Butcher Hollow is in Johnson County
Kentucky and home of the world's most famous coal miner's daughter,
Loretta Lynn. Her birthplace and family home is nestled between two fog
shrouded mountains up a "holler" just two miles southeast of the coal
mining camp of Van Lear, Kentucky.
Loretta, her sisters Patsy and Crystal Gayle, sang songs with attitude and pride. They brought their brand of country music to an admiring public, and gained fame and fortune for themselves and new respect for coal miners everywhere.
