The Story of Paintsville

Enjoy Music, History, and Arts

Paintsville, Kentucky…a place with a small town atmosphere nestled between Paintsville Lake and Dewey Lake in the heart of Eastern Kentucky. With a population of 5,300, Paintsville offers many recreational activities for the entire family. Our region is overflowing with beautiful national resources for outdoor adventures, such as paddling the Levisa Fork River or playing 18 holes of golf on one of the oldest golf courses in Eastern Kentucky. Enjoy hiking, biking, or horseback riding along the Dawkins Line Rail Trail, the longest rail-to-trail in the state. There is so much to do in the hills of Eastern Kentucky. We are also known for the gift of music. You can visit Butcher Holler, birthplace of Loretta Lynn, or see where Chris Stapleton grew up and got his start. Tour the US 23 Country Music Highway Museum and see how many famous artists are from our region.

We are a proud community with award winning schools, beautiful mountains, and unique features. Visit Paintsville, and let us welcome you and make you feel like family.
